Uniquely positioning itself as a complimentary follow-up therapy for those who have been signed off from counselling but would still benefit from support, our 1-2-1 coaching is for those who are ready to stop looking backwards and start working towards being strong, confident, and well.

What is involved in coaching?
GLC RESILIENCE COACHING always starts with a free 30 minute “chemistry session”. This is a no obligation call where we get to know each other a little and decide if coaching is the right thing for you. Should you decide to continue, there is usually a minimum of five sessions that are one hour long and 2-3 weeks apart. These sessions are a mixture of activities and exploration and tracking goals as they progress. There will also be tasks set to complete between sessions.
Where does this coaching take place?
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, most of our coaching sessions are done via Zoom or a phone call. However, face to face will always be the preferred method of coaching and this can take place wherever you feel most comfortable and able to talk, such as local coffee shop, if restrictions allow.

Based strongly in Positive Psychology, GLC RESILIENCE COACHING also combines interests in neuroscience and experiential learning, with Gemma’s very personal story of PTSD recovery and management. By undertaking a Doctorate in Coaching and Mentoring at Oxford Brookes University, Gemma not only has access to the latest tools and techniques in coaching but also to ongoing peer review and supervision to ensure her practice is to a high standard.
When is the best time to be coached?
Coaching lies in between counselling and mentoring and sometime the boundaries between the three are not easy to distinguish. Therefore, we have devised something called the Model of Perception, which explains it as 6 patio doors.
1- The door to your future feels open and you are able to step through into it with minimal resistance. If this is the case, then mentoring is probably the better fit for you.
2- The door to your future feels closed but you don’t know why because you can see it clearly. If this is the case, then mentoring might be a better fit for you.
3- The door to your future feels closed, you can see through it clearly, but the light is reflecting an obstacle. This is the perfect time for coaching.
4- The door to your future feels closed and the glass is frosted. This too is a perfect time for coaching.
5- The door to your future feels closed and the glass is heavily marked and dirty. Coaching may be a possibility but you might want to consider counselling or psychotherapy.
6- The door to your future feels closed, the doorway has been blocked up, and the future is not visible. This is a time to consult a counsellor or psychotherapist.
